Revelation 12 Signs in the Sky 2017

     Source: ERF Ministries, Scott Clarke

Revelation 12

A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth. Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads. Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born. She gave birth to a son, a male child, who “will rule all the nations with an iron scepter.”[a] And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne. The woman fled into the wilderness to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be taken care of for 1,260 days.

Revelation 12 speaks of a woman in labor who gives birth to a child. The Dragon tries to snatch the child, but the child is 'caught up' before he is able to do so. Then the woman flees for a time. Many refer to this as the birth of the Christ Child, which it does mention though it happened 2000 years ago, but the Scripture also puts this near the time of the Tribulation, the coming of the Kingdom, etc.

The woman is Israel and the Child is the Messiah. However, if you read further, the dragon goes after the rest of the woman's offspring, and since the woman is supernaturally protected, I believe this is the church.

Those of you who have taken my bible studies are aware of the Mazaroth, which is the story God put in the sky by way of reminder, to show us the way to salvation and future events. Unfortunately, today we know it as the Zodiac, but that was never what it was intended to be. What God has given us for good, Satan will try to confuse, and in this case he has turned it into a form of soothsaying and predictions.

What's super interesting, and the point of this post, is that the event described in Revelation actually has an actual fulfillment in the sky today!  It started August 2016, then on November 20, 2016 Jupiter (also known as the king star), entered the side or border of the constellation of Virgo. It will stay within her 'womb' for 42 weeks (equal to a long term gestation), and will move out between her 'legs'  on September 23, 2017. So will this be the beginning of some major events? The start of the Tribulation? My Bible says it is a warning of future events of ominous significance. What do you think?

I'd love your input.

Blessings,
Carmen

The Fig Tree Prophecy

Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is Mount Zion.

There is one place in the world that God has declared as holy, and that’s Mount Zion and the land of Israel. The prophet Isaiah wrote this – “Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the Lord of hosts shall reign in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem and before his ancients gloriously.” Isaiah 24:23.

There are one people that are God’s ‘chosen people’, and they are the Jews - “And I have put my words in thy mouth and I have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion, Thou art my people.” Isaiah 51:16.

And there is one main event in bible prophecy that had to happen to usher in the time that the bible calls the “last days” or the “time of Jacob’s trouble.” This event is undeniable and it has happened! Israel becomes a nation in one day!

State of Israel is born headline, 'Palestine Post'
Source: Jerusalem Post

Throughout recorded history, nations have always been typified by types and figures to describe them.

Russia is known as the Bear
America is the Eagle
England is the Lion
Israel is the Fig Tree.

Matthew 24:32-25 refers to Israel becoming a nation and the end times.

As incredible as it was for the nation of Israel to be reborn, more remarkable is the fact that it was reborn on the exact day in history the Bible said it would! This event marked the first time since 605 BC that Israel had its own nation under their control.

No other nation in history has ever ceased to exist for centuries and then returned as a nation in its former land to regain its place in world history. The bible predicted this thousands of years before it happened.

Prophetic Timeline:

Read: Ezekiel 4:3-6 (explanation in Leviticus 26:18,21,24,28)

Their time of punishment would be multiplied X 7 if the people did not repent, and by staying in pagan Babylon, they refused to repent!

According to Ez. 4:3-6, they were to be punished for 430 years (lost their homeland to Babylon).
Later Babylon was conquered and they were captured by Cyrus (539 BC) who allowed them to return to their land (535 BC- about 70 yrs. after they lost their land to Babylon). However, not all the captives returned but chose to stay in pagan Babylon instead. Because of this, the remaining 360 yrs. (430 – 70 = 360) of their punishment was multiplied by 7 (360 x 7 = 2,520 yrs.).
This was based on a 360 day lunar calendar, however if you adjust it to the modern solar calendar, you get 2,484 years.  536 BC (535+1) + 2484 AD = 1948 AD
Why did Jesus curse the fig tree?
Matthew 21:19; Mark 11:14 Because it hadn’t born any fruit.
Does this portion of scripture state that the tree will never bear fruit again?  It seems to, but on closer inspection a different picture emerges.
Never again/ever again = eis ton aiona. The actual meaning is lost in its translation.
Eis: is often used regarding time. It means “to” or “until”
Ton: simply means “the”
Aiona: is a form of “aion” (transliterated “eon”). It means “segment of time” or “age.”
In our English translations, it appears to say that the fig tree was cursed to never bring forth fruit again. It was not the appointed time for the fig tree to yield its fruit, and in like manner, it was also not the time for the Israelis to recognize their Messiah and it remains so to this day (Temporary blindness: John 12:37; Rom 11:7).
Jesus symbolically cursied the Israelis to unfruitfulness until just prior to the 2nd coming.
Undoubtedly, until the age of the Messiah’s rule over the entire world from Jerusalem. The fig tree incident was designed to show that the Israelis would not produce true spiritual fruit until the Messiah comes to usher in the kingdom of God on the earth.
What does Zechariah say will happen?
Zechariah 12:10: The divine blindness will be lifted, the Israelis will recognize their Messiah after He saves them from an attack by the nations, they will fully realize that the one they’ve rejected for 2000 years is the Messiah. There will be great mourning.
To date this prophecy has never been fulfilled!
The Fig Tree’s Cycle
The annual fruit cycle of the fig tree occurs at the beginning of spring in late March. The figs are not ready to harvest until early June, about 70 to 80 days later. If we apply the principle of a day for a year to the fruit cycle, we get a corresponding time period of 70 to 80 years. If the parable of the fig tree budding out represents the land of Israel once again becoming home to a Jewish state, then we have 70 to 80 years before the fruit will be ripe. Is it possible that the Messiah intended for us to understand that the culmination of God’s plan would take 70 to 80 years from the re-establishment of modern Israel until the return of the Messiah?
How does the Bible define a generation?
Psalm 90:10: 70 to 80 years
After speaking the parable of the fig tree, Jesus stated; “Truly I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place.”
Additional Information: The life span varied over time, the average life span of the pre-Flood patriarchs was 912 years. Shem to Peleg (contemporary of the Tower of Babel) diminished to 484 years. Peleg to Abraham, it diminished to 195 years. The average generation from Abraham to David (Matt. 1:17) was approximately 64 years)
IF we are reading the prophetic symbols correctly, where does this place the passing of this generation and the Coming of our Lord?
We know Israel became a nation in 1948, although some include the capturing of Jerusalem in 1967 as the correct countdown date. So using 1948, around what year would that place us? Using 1967, around what year does that place us?
(1948) 2018 – 2028
(1967) 2037 - 2047
Though we shouldn't be setting dates, as believers we should know the signs of the times!
Matthew 24:36; 1 Thess. 5:2-6
Luke 21:29 - 31n“And all the trees”
The Bible uses the analogy of a fig tree in reference to the rebirth of the nation of Israel, but Jesus also indicated that alongside the re-budding of the fig tree, there would be a sign in all the trees.

The 20th century blossoming of national trees throughout the Middle East foretells that Gods’ prophecies for all the nations is coming to pass in these times.

The roots of the Israeli-Arab conflict have come full circle today. They have indeed fathered many nations. For centuries the Arab nations wandered the deserts of Arabia and never projected any borders between themselves. Ishmael’s descendants have lived as mingled desert dwellers and behaved as wild men, and have shown a tendency to life their hands against their brethren, as God foretold. This characteristic has been ingrained into their makeup and is stoked by hatred and jealousy towards Jacob

It was in the 20th century, after the World Wars that the roots of all the modern states of the Middle East blossomed into defined boundaries of nations. Most are aware that Israel was reborn in 1948, but not many people realize that the Arabs discovered nationalism in the same period. Many of Ishmael’s descendants suddenly found themselves identified with ancient national names, some of which were rooted in the ancestry of Ishmael and Esau’s ancestry.

Israel’s Prophetic Background:

Ezekiel 37:10-14 (dry bones, restored to life); Isaiah 66:7,8 (in one day); Ezek. 37:21,22 (re-established as a united nation); Amos 9:14,15 (regained control, never removed); Ezekiel 34:13 (gather); Jeremiah 31:10 (Gather); Jeremiah 16:14,15 (gather, famous); Deut. 30:3-5 (Gather) ; Zech 12:2-3 (Scorned by nations); Ezek 38:14-16 (War of Gog And Magog)

“In a stunning and remarkable moment, Netanyahu also declared to the people of Europe and the world that the prophecies of Ezekiel 37 have been fulfilled. The Holocaust, he said, represented the dry bones and graves of the Jewish people, and out of that horror the State of Israel was resurrected, just as the Lord said would happen through the Hebrew Prophet Ezekiel. Rarely has any world leader given a major address on an international stage declaring End Times prophecies from the Bible have come true. But that is exactly what Netanyahu did.” – Joel Rosenberg’s Blog, January 29, 2010. Nethanyahu gave a political address from Auschwitz, Poland.

Where is Israel Today? Alone!

Israel’s newest crisis in not its biggest one. It is the redefining of the relationship between the United States and Israel.

The basic tenets in the U.S.–Israel relationship were two-fold.

1. There would be no surprises. Neither country would do or say something regarding the Middle East without the other country knowing about it ahead of time.

2. There would not be daylight between the two countries. Israel and America could disagree—but never publicly.

There was a reason for this close cooperation.

Israel needs America’s support. Israel has been called a “one-bomb country”. A single nuclear bomb would level the place. It needs the protection of the United States to hold its enemies in check.
America also needs Israel’s support as well. Israel has been the only constant ally the United States has had in the region, and it is the region’s only democracy.

Since the beginning of the Obama Administration, the United States seems to be trying to position itself as the Arab world’s best friend. The current administration has allowed daylight to filter in between the two countries by publicly disagreeing with Israel’s policies.

If the White House truly wanted to minimize the possibility of Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon, it would not have given up concessions the way it did. It would not have communicated its message that the military option is impossible. It would not have publicly defended Iran’s cheating on its existing promises.

Israel is now between a diplomatic rock and a hard place. Israel is in an alliance with a country that does not seem to have Israel in its list of priorities. Also, the next generation of U.S. leaders being groomed do not seem to have Israel as a priority either. They do not seem to recognize the cognitive disconnect involved with accusing Israel of genocide while praising the actions of Iran and Hamas.
As the United States looks more like Europe, Israel looks more alone. Many believe that a prayer on Tisha B’Av is the most logical response to current events.

The only thing missing from this analysis is the fact that Israel will never be alone. Israel was fulfilling prophecy when it was regathered in the land in 1948 as a state for the first time in 2,000 years. Ultimately, Israel will recognize Jesus as their Messiah and true protector:

I will pour out on the house of David and on the residents of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and of supplications, and they will look to me—the one whom they pierced.” Then they will mourn for him, as for an only son. They will grieve bitterly for him, as for a firstborn son.
— Zechariah 12:10, ISV

Do you believe we are living in the End Times? We are living in the last days and have been since Christ’s First Coming, and we are probably in the end times today.

The time of the last days that Jesus referred to is not in the future, and it’s not coming soon. It is here right now. For the past 6 decades, all the major players have been taking the stage and playing the parts that God said they would.

Consider the following events:

In 1948, Israel became a nation, not through her own strength.
A re-gathering has taken place in Israel and continues to take place, from all nations.
Russia and China, two major End Times players, have already signed a pact.
Russia, the biggest End Times player, has already helped Iran build a nuclear reactor.
Iran has repeatedly confirmed their desire to wipe Israel off the map.
Iran now, for the first time ever, has nuclear weapons capable of reaching Israel.

TODAY:

The Jews have been back in their homeland since 1948, and though they still have some battles ahead of them, God has promised that they will never again be driven out of Israel. The bible looks forward to the time when Jesus will physically return to the land where He was born so many years ago.

There is only one Holy Land that God knows about, and that is the land of Israel that was first promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God’s promises don’t change, even if in this case it took nearly 2,000 years to occur.

IDF Chief of Staff, Gabi Ashkenazi, speaking at the Arch of Titus 1940 years after the Roman Empire destroyed the Second Holy Temple, declared, “We are here, on the eve of Tisha B’av, the day the Jewish Temple was destroyed by Titus, and together with the Jewish Community we say, “The Nation of Israel lives!” He said, “despite all the misery and horrible tragedies that struck us since the destruction of the Second Temple and our exile, the Jewish people were able to re-establish their national independence in 1948.

End times bible prophecy has declared that this would happen in the last days, and that is exactly where we are right now.

Philadelphia, The Faithful Church

Philadelphia became the greatest trade route in the whole country in Byzantine times, which gave the city its commercial prosperity. It was a center for spreading the greek language and culture throughout the asian provinces. The city was prone to severe earthquakes that caused the people to move out and dwell in tents at times. A key crop in Philadelphia was grapes for wine making.

The city was known for its resistance to Islam and kept it's christianity long after some of the other cities in the area. The city had many pagan temples, including Dionysus, the god of wine and revelry.

In Revelation, Christ is revealed in this church as holy and true. He is also identified as the One who opens and shuts. This church is said to have an 'open door.' The commendations to this church was evangelism, works and missions. Though they were few in number, they kept the Word and did not deny Christ, despite those of the 'synagogue of satan,' who also persecuted them.

There is no correction spoken, but there is a warning that they should believe God's promises and stick with Him. They are told to 'hold fast,' which has a strong connotation meaning to cling to tenaciously, with a warning that if not, someone may take their crown. This implies that if you let a God given opportunity slip by, God can call someone else to do it and they crown will go to them. You will lose your reward!

As believers, we have a permanent identity in Christ. The believer will be given a new name, uniquely his (Rev 2:17). He also says he will 'keep thee from the hour of temptation.' The word 'kept' means to preserve and protect.  To take care of, to guard.  The word 'from' means out of, or it can mean, in the midst of. God is with us through our trials!

This church, also known as being faithful and having brotherly love,  was a church that Christ loved. In this church, Christ is revealed as having the key that opens and shuts the door to salvation. The door is wide open for most of the missions established during this time, as well as times of revival.

As Christians we are called to be overcomers. What does this mean? We must be totally loyal to Christ, sharing our love and the Gospel with all men. This relationship with our saviour should be the focal point of our lives. Our minds set on Christ and His will for our lives. Then will our lives truly have full meaning and satisfaction. To be in the will of God is the most exciting place to be!

The Four Horsemen of Revelation, Color Study

Sometimes Scripture shows us things so clearly, that we miss it!

In Revelation we are introduced to four horsemen as the Lamb breaks open the First Seal. These ride horses, each with a different color. The focus is on the riders. First we are introduced to a white horse whose rider rode forth conquering and to conquer. Many interpret this as conquering through great deception as the Antichrist is ascertained by many to be the rider of this horse. Then a flaming red horse follows whose rider takes away peace from the earth. Next a black horse appears whose rider brings famine upon the earth. The last horse is a pale horse (chloros in the Greek, which is actually pale green). It's rider's name was Death and he was closely followed by Hades.

Four Horsemen by MarkWilkinson
Source: Four Horsemen, by Mark Wilkinson, Deviant Art

These have authority over a fourth part of the earth to kill and bring famine, plagues, pestilence & disease and wild animals. We are not told that they kill a fourth part of the earth, rather that they have authority and power over a fourth part of the earth.

So we have been introduced to four horses and given some specific information about each of their riders, but what of the horses? Each horse has been identified with a color. Could this have any meaning at all? Since God took the trouble to label each horse with a distinct color, wouldn't it suggest that there is meaning to these colors? Yes, sometimes prophecy is stranger than fiction and it's so easy to miss things if we don't look closely. Let me remind you that many people missed the First Coming. We look back and wonder how they missed it, but if we're not careful, it'll happen to us too!

I watched a video by Pastor Steve at Discover Ministries and it is him I thank for this information. I may not necessarily agree with everything Pastor Steve says, but I found this particular information to be interesting and somewhat enlightening. If you would like to watch the video, I will provide a link below.

Pastor Steve connected the colors of the horses to Flags, and a rather interesting picture emerges. Have a look at the flags I've pictured below. What do you see?

Arab Revolt Flag (not a nation, but interesting nonetheless)

If you're not sure, the answer is: White, Red, Black and Green. Each of these flags uses the same color combinations. This makes sense, because they have similar roots. Did you also take note of the countries, states, or nations that fly these flags?

The countries that will lead World War 3 (Psalm 83) share the same colors on their flags!

I guess the question then becomes, are the Four Horsemen already riding? Has the First Seal been opened? Interesting, right? I don't know for sure yet, but I stand amazed over and over again at how detailed God is and how interesting His living Word is. Those who say it's an antiquated outdated book, probably haven't taken the time to read it and take it seriously!

As promised, here's the link to Pastor Steve's video.

You Will Never Read the Book of Revelation the Same Way Again!

Have a good week and Blessings to you and yours!

The Church of Thyatira

Thyatira: 'Continual Sacrifice'

Thyatira was a prosperous town which was well connected to other important cities. It was located on the Hermus River, 38 miles from Pergamos, and 32 miles from Sardis. It was an important manufacturing center noted for dying fabrics and garment making (Lydia, in Acts 16:14 had a business in fabric dyes). Thyatira was also known for its pottery, it's coppersmithing and brass working industries. These powerful Trade Guilds not only controlled business, but each Trade Guild had its own gods which were involved in pagan religious worship and immorality. It was almost impossible to conduct business without belonging to a Trade Guild.

During his second missionary journey (Acts 16:13-15) the apostle Paul travelled to Phillipi where he meets Lydia, a seller of purple. She listens to Paul's preaching and is so convinced of his message that she and her household are baptized. It is likely that Lydia helped spread the Gospel throughout Thyatira.

In the message to this church, Christ calls Himself, the Son of God, stressing His deity. He is revealed as a Judge. The 'eyes like a flame of fire' suggest discernment and perception which searches out all iniquity. His 'feet like fine bronze' shows He is all powerful in judgment. Bronze, which symbolically means testing shows that Christ tests the works of man. The reference to bronze is also an illusion to the brass working industry of Thyatira.

Christ praises this church for works, love, service, faith and patience. This is the only church that Christ gives praise to for its love. It's love became a part of the problem, though. The congregation loved so much that they tolerated sin and failed to exercise church discipline. This church allowed 'Jezebel' to teach compromise and immorality.

(Remember King Ahab's Jezebel. She was the daughter of a priest king of Tyre and was married to Ahab for political reasons. She had a strong, doineering, forceful character and was fanatically devoted to Baal. This caused the death of many true prophets of God.)

God extends grace to the Jezebel of Thyatira to repent, but she would not. This indicates she made a conscious choice to continue on in her sin of compromise and immorality. She tolerated evil and had learned Satan's so called 'deep secrets,' which she also taught.

This church therefore allowed 'Jezebel' to teach compromise and immorality. They evidently did not accept the finished work of Christ on the cross as enough, but thought they needed other gods and religious systems, much to their hurt!

However, those who are victorious and do not fall for her deception, God gives authority to rule over the nations. He says they will rule with an iron sceptre and dash them to pieces, like pottery. Another allusion to one of the top industries of Thyatira, pottery. He says He will give them the place of the morning star.

(Lucifer is called the morning star, as well as Jesus Christ. The title was a place that Lucifer attempted to gain but which was triumphed over by Christ, who is the true Morning Star! The 'morning star' will be given to believers who rule and reign with Christ in the Millennium. Revelation 2: 28; 2 Peter 1:19; Daniel 12:3)

Sardis: The Living Dead

(Sardis: Revelation 3;1-6)

Sardis was the capital city of the ancient kingdom of Lydia prior to the colonization of the Greeks. It was built on a steep hill surrounded by loose rock and was therefore considered to be impregnable even though Cyrus of Persia, Antiochus the Great and the Romans all overtook the city by surprise attacks. The people of the city falsely thought they were safe based on their feelings of security in the City’s location.

The city was on an important trade route. Their chief industry was dyed woolen garments of beautiful coloring, and they were also known for their jewelry making. It was a wealthy city with powerful influence. Emperor worship, pagan temples and idols, and occult practices were all part of the religious environment of Sardis. Little is known of the church there, other than its reputation for being alive, though they were dead. Herodotus tells us they were lax in their morals.

On a positive note, this church has some who have not defiled their garments (a reference to their woolen garment industry) and whom God accepts and clothes in white. In other words, some in the church were morally pure even though most had lost their zeal, were apathetic and indifferent, and compromised with the world of the day. Theirs were dead works.

Dead works are anything that is not inspired through the Holy Spirit. This is why He had not found their works ‘perfect.’ These were not fulfilling the purpose of God but were motivated by a desire to build their own reputaitons. This church may have had a lot of activity and programs, but none were supported by the Holy Spirit.

Christ’s counsel to them was to watch (you must be awake to watch), strengthen what remained (that which was good), hold fast (keep His word and commandments) and repent (of wrong attitudes and practices). The challenge given was perfection: "walk with Me in white." Soiled garments in the bible frequently relates to the mingling of pagan practices with biblical faith to the point of defiling our relationship with Christ.

Having a combination of wealth and power combined with lax morals and poor Christian influence definitely affected these people. In God’s eyes, they were as good as dead. The city was finally completely destroyed in 640 AD and never rebuilt, as to this day. There are only ruins and a small village near the site of the old city. They did not repent so God removed their lampstand.

What is the personal application?  Do not be quick to judge outward appearance, for reputation is no guarantee of inward character!

How do we remain alive and moving in the Spirit, especially amongst dead Christianity? Know and be alert to the tactics of the enemy. Keep your purpose in Christ as the focus of your life!

Who are the Genuine Children of God?

I came across this post through Berean Research and thought I'd have a peek. Honestly, I found this to be a very on-point essay on what it is to be a child of God. So read on and see what you think.

Who are the Genuine Children of God?

by Mike Ratliff

(1 John 2:28-29 NA28)

28 And now little children, abide in him that when he is manifested, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before him at his coming. 29 If you know that he is righteous, you also know that everyone practicing righteousness has been born of him. (1 John 2:28-29 translated from the NA28 Greek text)

I am sure many of you have come across the following video lately that many younger "Christian Leaders" are saying defines Christianity in the eyes of the "Millennials."
